A word about the 2020 Competition…

The FY20 competition round was statutorily waived as a part of one of the COVID stimulus bills.  This means that while there is typically a competitive competition for CoC funds through a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) each year, there was no such competition during calendar year 2020.  In its stead, Congress permitted all existing CoC grantees to receive automatic renewals of their projects for a one-year period.

Going forward, it is expected that HUD will again issue a NOFA competition for CoC funding which will necessitate all existing and any prospective applicants for funding to participate in a competitive process within their respective continuum of care.
