2017 NEW BEDFORD HOMELESS COUNT…
The City of New Bedford has conducted its annual “Point In Time” [PIT] count that creates a census of those individuals and families experiencing homelessness within the city, both sheltered and unsheltered. This is a big operation and requires a lot of effort and many hands. On April 11, 2017, the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Registration Notice was released through the HUD Exchange Mailing List. Similar to previous years, in FY2017 HUD will require each CoC Collaborative Applicant to register in advance of applying for funding available through the FY 2017 CoC Program Competition. Funding Announcement
As part of its series of federal funding awards for Continuum of Care (CoC) projects, HUD announced that he City of New Bedford CoC has been awarded just over $1.7 million dollars for its programs and housing in support of those experiencing homelessness. The First Annual NB Connect
The City of New Bedford’s HSPN, along with its committee, “Rise Up for Homes” undertook its first NB Connect event on Friday, September 30th in which over 40 area agencies, resources and providers came together under one roof to provide a single point of access for those experiencing homelessness as well as those living in poverty.
